After pressure from EU states and automotive industry, the European Commission has reversed its intended 2035 ban on ICE vehicle sales. By Ian Henry
The announcement that the European Commission (EC) will allow internal combustion engine (ICE) cars to be sold beyond 2035 has come as no surprise. The idea had been trailed in the automotive press for several weeks, and pressure had been building throughout 2025 for the EU's executive branch to change its plans.
